How do you see God? Who is God to you? As I was reading about God, I realized that we often refer to God or call upon Him in many ways but we don’t internalize Him. We often use the terms, “May God Bless You”, “God willing” etc. More often than not, we use these words to mean well. Some of us have had the privilege to experience the love of our human fathers, likewise, some of us have not had the opportunity to know their fathers or experience their love. Whether we have experienced the love of our human father or not, we have an idea of how a good earthly father would be . We know that human fathers are far from perfect but they love their children and despite their shortcomings they try their best to give their children what they can. God’s love surpasses even that of our human fathers, so imagine what he can give us.
I have also learnt that God regards us as His children and he wants us to refer to him by a new name that is entwined with the dearest association of the human heart. He wants as to refer to him as Father. This name spoken to Him is a sign of our love and trust for Him, spoken when asking for favor and blessing. This name is like music to His ears because he wants as to be familiar with this appellation. It got me thinking, how often do we refer to our fathers by their names? Almost never right? You might get a beating or a long lecture depending. As much as we are used to calling God by His name, I think it’s time we refer to Him as our father because he is. As you call him by this name (father), envision in your heart and mind that he is indeed your father. I shall therefore begin referring to Him more as my father rather than God because even Jesus himself referred to him as father more than 130 times in the Bible.
Another thing that I have learnt is quit bragging. People like to brag of how rich they are how intellect they are or how strong they are etc. If you are one of this people, you are not wise according to our Father. Jer 9:23, 24. You should boast that you understand God and Know Him. That’s what you should be bragging about.
God has also told us not to worry about anything. He knows what we need and He will sought us out. This is clearly outlined in Mathew 6: 25 -34. Am sure most of us have heard or read this passage but we tend not to be so convinced. I think it’s because we just read what we are interested in and leave out the rest without clearly understanding. See in order for God to sought you out, you have to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. The bible is a double edged sword. We have heard of the passage in the scripture that says, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you… Thing is, knock the wrong door, and it shall be opened. I mean if you are looking for trouble you shall indeed get. Seek and you shall find. Seek evil, and indeed you shall find. I think we need to take time and clearly understand Gods word.
Not to say that will not suffer .Suffering is inevitable in this world. We are told in the bible that each day has enough trouble for its own trouble. We should therefore keep in mind that He still loves us and blesses us. For there is no chapter in our life that is too dark for Him to read, no perplexity too difficult for Him to unravel. He takes immediate interest in our troubles. Amid all trust in Him 🙂
